Are you interested in joining CSUMB's pool of sign language interpreters?
Or, for information, and consult SDR's Interpreter Hiring Procedures (click the link or go to the Forms page).
To request Deaf and Hard of Hearing services, we recommend that Students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing make use of Priority Registration (request eligibility through Student Disability Resources) and meet with the SDR Deaf Services advisor by appointment immediately after registration.
Services include and are not limited to:
-
Sign Language Interpreting (Provided for classroom and required class-related activities.)
Video remote interpreting (VRI) service developed during Spring 07
- Priority Registration
- Assistive Listening Devices
- Visual door alarms, emergency strobe lights, telephones, etc. in CSUMB Housing through the Residential Life Petition process
- Real time captioning (Provided for classroom and required class-related activities)
- Video transcription or captioning for videos and online audio instruction
- Notetaking by a peer enrolled in the course
NOTE: SDR also assists students with learning to request communication access for other campus activities such as tutoring or events. CSUMB is located in rural Monterey County where it is often challenging to secure qualified interpreters and captioners. To obtain equal access, students need to plan ahead.
